Depending on your time and adventurousness, you could try the following: |

- ebuild binutils-apple-6.1.ebuild install |

- emerge binutils-apple (in existing, backupped (!) prefix) |

- PORTDIR_OVERLAY=.../overlay-with-binutils EPREFIX=/tmp/testprefix bootstrap-prefix.sh |

and see if any of that works and the resulting binutils emit working |

binaries. :) |
