So if I read you right, autoconf-2.61-r1 requires autoconf-wrapper-4-r3 to be installed before it can be emerged ?

I'll try that....

No luck. I have installed autoconf-wrapper, and I now _DO_ have a autom4te at:

$ which autom4te
/gsa/ausgsa/projects/g/gnu/usr/bin/autom4te

But, when trying to emerge autoconf-2.61-r1, it still fails with:

make: 1254-002 Cannot find a rule to create target ../bin/autom4te from dependencies.
Stop.
make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 1.

I'm going to try proceeding with version 2.59 and see how far I get...

Thanks.

autom4te is part of autoconf-wrapper

% equery b autom4te
[ Searching for file(s) autom4te in *... ]
sys-devel/autoconf-wrapper-4-r3 (/usr/bin/autom4te ->
../lib/misc/ac-wrapper.sh)
