I don't know how workable this would be, but we could run prefix as |

an unprivileged user and then use sudo in the user creation |
| 15 |
functions / chowning portions. That way you wouldn't have to worry |
| 16 |
about prefix trampling stuff outside of the prefix, but still get |
| 17 |
some of the other features of being root. |
