Hello,

I'm looking for a fink replacement and since I'm running Gentoo on all
my Linux machines I really like the idea to have portage on the Mac as
well. I've got the bootstrap running just now and it works incredibly
well!

I've got what might be considered a dumb beginner's question, but I can't
seem to find an answer on my own:

Is prefix-portage root-safe at the moment? That is to say: Can I use
prefix-portage to install packages as root without screwing up my system
and will the resulting tree with all it's suid bits and config files be
safe to deploy in a multi-user environment?

I'm guessing that, since it uses normal Gentoo ebuilds, the permissions
will be fine. But does it, for example, use sandbox and refuse to
install outside $EPREFIX to prevent trashing of Mac OS X system binaries
by accident?

Thanks in advance,
Micha
