The following is using the ide hard drive in software raid 1.

  videoserver ~ # hdparm -tT /dev/hda

  /dev/hda:
  Timing cached reads:   3068 MB in  2.00 seconds = 1534.23 MB/sec
  Timing buffered disk reads:  168 MB in  3.03 seconds =  55.53 MB/sec

This result below is using 4 drives in a raid 5 using Promise Raid Card EX8350

  videoserver ~ # hdparm -tT /dev/sda

  /dev/sda:
  Timing cached reads:   3032 MB in  2.00 seconds = 1515.47 MB/sec
  Timing buffered disk reads:  360 MB in  3.01 seconds = 119.66 MB/sec
