Billy,
First - WOW! Great stuff.

Second - yes, I know it's not marked ~amd64 but I figured I could
try it. If it worked, great. If it didn't I'm basically where I was
before I tried. No harm no foul.

Unfortunately the patch doesn't look like it applies cleanly in my case:

lightning mac-fdisk-0.1 # patch -p1 --dry-run <~mark/mac_fdisk.patch
patching file fdisklabel.c

Hunk #9 succeeded at 362 with fuzz 2.
Hunk #11 FAILED at 380.
3 out of 18 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file fdisklabel.c.rej
patching file fdisklabel.h
Hunk #1 FAILED at 58.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file fdisklabel.h.rej

Being that I'm not a programmer AT ALL ;-) I probably should not go
too deply into this whole thing. It will likely be a huge time sink
that I'll never extricate myself from. On the other hand I'm very
willing to spend time testing software, like mac-fdisk. I've got 5
1394 drives. A couple are jsut test drives for exactly this sort of
thing. I'm really happy to do that.

Thanks a lot for sharing how you're making it work, even at the
somewhat reduced level of functionality that it seems to be working
at. I appreciate the info and help.

cheers,
Mark
