G'day everyone,

Running ~amd64 I have both mplayer and mplayer-bin merged. amd64 land
is the usual place for such a scenario so thought I'd write to this list.

I'm wondering if the following issue is with the latest version of
mplayer or an issue with my setup:

Basically I've noticed that mplayer (mplayer-1.0.20060217) starts
getting audio out of sync very very quickly and changeably (eventually I
have to quit, jump to where I was to reset the sync - using the sync
control I get to a delay of up to 2 seconds before it's impossible to
find the right place). This is the case if framedrop is set to yes or
no in mplayer.conf.

On the other hand mplayer-bin (mplayer-bin-1.0_pre7-r3) does not have
this issue. If there is any out-of-syncness it is constant (adjust at
the beginning and leave).

Of course I've tested using the same avi file.

I'm assuming both mplayer and mplayer-bin use the same config file so
configs should be identical.

In both cases ao is sdl:esd but the same thing happens if I override
config to ao=alsa

Before I get my hands greasy and delve beneath the hood: has anyone else
experienced this?
