Trying to get sound working on my nice fresh install here. |
2 |
|
3 |
Went through all the reading and alsaconf cannot find my card, claims |
4 |
nothing available. |
5 |
|
6 |
Below is my card. |
7 |
|
8 |
tardis sean # lspci -v | grep -i audio |
9 |
0000:00:07.5 Multimedia audio controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] |
10 |
AMD-8111 AC97 Audio (rev 03) |
11 |
|
12 |
In the kernel I selected the following since I was not sure for the driver. |
13 |
|
14 |
<M> Intel/SiS/nVidia/AMD/ALi AC97 Controller |
15 |
<M> Intel/SiS/nVidia/AMD MC97 Modem (EXPERIMENTAL) |
16 |
<M> VIA 82C686A/B, 8233/8235 AC97 Controller |
17 |
|
18 |
I originally had all the above built into the kernel instead of modules, |
19 |
but the handbook states modules is better. |
20 |
|
21 |
cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp |
22 |
produced the static sound when all was built in, but now no static. |
23 |
|
24 |
Can anyone offer any hints on possible choice of directions? |
25 |
|
26 |
Thanks |
27 |
