As the default location for downloaded source tarballs, distfiles isn't |

synced, so anything there should be safe from an emerge sync. |

What it likely /won't/ be safe from is any distfiles cleaner you may run. |

The newer (~arch) gentoolkit includes eclean, one such cleaner, altho lack |

of one in the normal portage and gentoolkit for so long means there's |

a list of several others available on the forums, and mentioned on the |

user list from time to time. However, if you don't run any of those, it |

will probably be safe, and eclean anyway, is configurable to skip things |

you don't want it to touch. (Of course, just putting the file elsewhere |
