5 AFAIK .img doesn't really refer to a specific file-format, it is usually
6 used as a file-extension for raw images of floppies and hard disks.
7 Maybe running file(1) on it ("file foo.img") will reveal what it really
8 is? There's probably a good chance it is actually a .iso file and you
9 can simply rename it.

11 Assuming you're interested in burning the image and if it is one of
12 other popular image formats, such as .cue/.bin, .nrg, .mdf/.mds, .ccd,
13 ... a conversion program might help you. You can find them by running
14 "emerge -s 2iso".
