couple of times, and it's always been due to garbage in my portage |

Try unsetting PORTDIR_OVERLAY in make.conf and doing the sync - if it's |

clean then you know to look in your overlays for the culprit. If so then |

put back chunks of the overlay(s) until you find the problem. |
