Hi Gentoo users, |
2 |
|
3 |
Many of you might have noticed that new file has shown up in |
4 |
/usr/portage/profiles called use.desc |
5 |
|
6 |
This file contains a list of valid USE flags that you can add to or |
7 |
subtract from your personal USE list in /etc/make.conf |
8 |
|
9 |
For the hardware flags, please note: |
10 |
|
11 |
There is a new use flag called "matrox" which replaces the old "mga" flag. |
12 |
The "3dfx" flag is important if you have a 3dfx card. Moreover if you |
13 |
have a Voodoo 3 (ONLY) then set the "voodoo3" flag as well. |
14 |
|
15 |
Also note that the mhash, mcrypt, and gpg settings have all been replaced |
16 |
by a single "crypt" flag. |
17 |
|
18 |
For the framebuffer people, the flags "fbcon" (for framebuffer-console) |
19 |
and "directfb" provide that support where appropriate. |
20 |
|
21 |
The "avi" flag has been there for a while now, but now there is an "mpeg" |
22 |
flag as well. |
23 |
|
24 |
Additionally, you'll notice your default flags now contain "gif", "jpeg" |
25 |
and "png" for supporting those image types. |
26 |
|
27 |
And, finally, "ogg" and "vorbis" flags have been combined into the single |
28 |
"oggvorbis" flag, but that has been in effect for a while. |
29 |
|
30 |
Thanks, |
31 |
|
