Just a quick message that the default Gentoo Linux kernel has moved back |

to 2.4.17-r5 -- it was 2.4.18. If you are using 2.4.18, there is no |

reason for you to switch to the earlier kernel; we've just found |
| 6 |
2.4.17-r5 to give much better desktop performance, and 2.4.18 has some |
| 7 |
compile-time problems for some people. If 2.4.18 compiled for you, it |
| 8 |
should work for you. If you're using a desktop Gentoo Linux system, you |
| 9 |
may want to go back to 2.4.17-r5 for better performance. |
