I'd like to announce a new project in Gentoo, LibreSSL [1]. LibreSSL |

[2] is a drop-in replacement for OpenSSL that was started in reaction to |
| 5 |
the heartbleed bug [3] in 2014. Members of the OpenBSD team decided to |
| 6 |
fork, refactor and modernize the codebase to improve security. |
| 7 |
Development occurs mostly in OpenBSD, but there are ports to other |
| 8 |
operating systems. The LibreSSL project in Gentoo aims to bring support |
| 9 |
for LibreSSL to Gentoo as an alternative to OpenSSL. |
