I'm installing a new rc6 system and I get the following cosmetic error |

I cvs updated, remerged portage and gcc, and the problem didn't go away. |

>From the error message I'm guessing the problem is that |

/var/db/pkg/sys-apps/texinfo is missing a version name. |

Why has texinfo been incorporated into gcc? It appears that gcc3+ |

now goes out of its way not to clobber an already existing texinfo, |
| 15 |
so I would think we would want to keep a separate texinfo package. |
