As Gentoo gets ready for it's 2004.3 release cycle we have prepared a |
2 |
number of uClibc stages (aka development environments) that need |
3 |
testing. The arches we are initially supporting right now are x86, ppc |
4 |
and arm little endian. |

Set 1 is your std i386/-Os stages |
20 |
Set 2 (these are the ones I like) are complete Position Independent |
21 |
Executables and coupled with with IBM's SSP |
22 |
piessp add a slight bit of size overhead compared to your standard x86 |
23 |
stages but offers much better security protections which make them an |
24 |
ideal starting point for your x86 uClibc based security projects. |

ppc: |
28 |
Nothing special here. With some luck we may have ppc-pie in the future. |
29 |
9.7M stage1-ppc-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2 |
30 |
22M stage2-ppc-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2 |
31 |
41M stage3-ppc-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2 |
32 |
|
33 |
arm: |
34 |
9.3M stage1-arm-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2 |
35 |
19M stage2-arm-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2 |
36 |
39M stage3-arm-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2 |

You can use these stages to build packages for your zaurus/netwinders or |
39 |
whatever your desire is. In the future after this release cycle we plan |
40 |
to offer arm big endian stages as well. |
41 |

--------------------------------------------------------------------- |
43 |
As always bug reports go to http://bugs.gentoo.org first. |
44 |
Bug reports to the uClibc mailing list about these stages will result in |
45 |
you being flamed for not paying attention. |
46 |
Thanks to all those of you that have done bug testing, reporting and |
47 |
submitted patches or helped in the fundamental design of things. |
48 |
(Mike/Peter/iggy/Koon..) |
49 |
|
50 |
enjoy.. |
