That's completely understandable and very well justified. My nature is
to ponder upon extended functionality for tools that I come across as
such I contribute to the thought pool occassionally. I completely agree
that excess optimisation over the default can make the system and its
components more problem prone and that this has repercussions upon the
administrative staff. Perhaps as a lesson to be learnt without making
the mistake first new users can be introduced to the hazards of
optimisation through appropriate documentation which does not exist at
the moment.

It was once said in GWN that a safe and supported set of CFLAGS will be
declared officially and that use of those CFLAGS will be a prerequisite
to obtaining support in the case of problems. With the initial release
of genflags and reassurance of its continued development into a mature
product the community has moved one step closer of two steps in reaching
that goal. The next step is to compile a list of CFLAGS for all
architecture and publish them for adoption and conformance. Once this
has been done, bugzilla can depend upon their use in order to debug
problems.

With regards.
