Actually, that's what the freedesktop.org and lsb standards are doing, in |

their respective areas. If you are really interested in doing something |
13 |
upstream farther than Gentoo, and making it pretty much universal, I'd get |
14 |
involved in one of those organizations. (In this case, lsb would be the |
15 |
place to go, as freedesktop is more GUI standards, not core system |
16 |
standards irrespective of GUI or CLI choice.) |
