11 Actually, that's what the freedesktop.org and lsb standards are doing, in
12 their respective areas. If you are really interested in doing something
13 upstream farther than Gentoo, and making it pretty much universal, I'd get
14 involved in one of those organizations. (In this case, lsb would be the
15 place to go, as freedesktop is more GUI standards, not core system
16 standards irrespective of GUI or CLI choice.)
