My new computer just arrived, so I've been busy installing
Gentoo on it the last day or so. I came across a strange Grub problem:
With the current version of grub (0.5.96.1-r4) and a /boot partition
on /dev/hda2 (/ on /dev/hda3), grub failed at the "setup (hd0)" step
with "error 22: partition not found". Grub did seem to be mostly
installed, since I could boot into the grub prompt and then do
"root (hd0,1)", "kernel /bzImage", and "boot root=/dev/hda3"
by hand. Has anybody seen this sort of problem?

I finally gave up, wiped /boot, created the grub-0.90 ebuild,
and it worked flawlessly (note to stupid people like me out there--
don't forget to recopy the kernel to /boot after you've wiped /boot!).
In making the new ebuild I ignored the patch. Does anybody know
why the patch was there?

Thanks,
Grant
