[gentoo-dev] PPP over ATM support (and Speedtouch userspace driver)

Hello,

        I'd like to know if it will be possible to include the PPP over ATM
support  in the mini-installation files, in the future. It would be a great
help for people that need PPP to connect to internet to begin thei
nstallation from scratch. The only modem (i think) that uses pppoa on linuxi
s the USB Alcatel Speedtouch modem. There are a lot of people that use it,
and there's also an available driver at http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/
Just for your knowledge, that driver is under the GPL license, but it need a
binary file (the firmware) in order to work; it must be downloaded from the
Alcatel web site for legal reasons and so it can't be provided into a
complete package: the user has to add it somewhere. You can find more details
about that in the documents provided with the driver itself.
