Seemant and Martin,

Making ffmpeg just install libpostproc makes sense. It
was sort of a toss up, the main reason I decided to
break it out was because there seems to be some
uncertainty whether mplayer or ffmpeg really owns the
libpostproc source and making it a seperate ebuild
seemed to have the potential for less disruption in
the future. Also, I found some precedent online for
rpms that provide libpostproc seperately.

If putting it in ffmpeg is the concensus by the
experts, I'll work up a modified ffmpeg ebuild.

Kanaka,

As little knowledge as I have (and you should have
just mailed me
directly, by the way), can not ffmpeg just provide
libpostproc, instead
of splitting them like that? Especially seeing as how
mplayer and vlc
both need both. (please reply off-list).

I seem to remember that transcode also use
libpostproc.

As for ffmpeg rather providing sure - just please
leave mplayer
untouched (except it not installing it anymore), as I
guess some
if its main aspects of stability comes from the fact
that it is
mostly self contained (meaning they fix whatever in
external libs
which they include, and do not rely on fixes that
'should' be in
external libs).
