Seemant and Martin, |

Making ffmpeg just install libpostproc makes sense. It |
4 |
was sort of a toss up, the main reason I decided to |
5 |
break it out was because there seems to be some |
6 |
uncertainty whether mplayer or ffmpeg really owns the |
7 |
libpostproc source and making it a seperate ebuild |
8 |
seemed to have the potential for less disruption in |
9 |
the future. Also, I found some precedent online for |
10 |
rpms that provide libpostproc seperately. |
11 |
|
12 |
If putting it in ffmpeg is the concensus by the |
13 |
experts, I'll work up a modified ffmpeg ebuild. |

As little knowledge as I have (and you should have |
32 |
just mailed me |
33 |
directly, by the way), can not ffmpeg just provide |
34 |
libpostproc, instead |
35 |
of splitting them like that? Especially seeing as how |
36 |
mplayer and vlc |
37 |
both need both. (please reply off-list). |

I seem to remember that transcode also use |
77 |
libpostproc. |
78 |
|
79 |
As for ffmpeg rather providing sure - just please |
80 |
leave mplayer |
81 |
untouched (except it not installing it anymore), as I |
82 |
guess some |
83 |
if its main aspects of stability comes from the fact |
84 |
that it is |
85 |
mostly self contained (meaning they fix whatever in |
86 |
external libs |
87 |
which they include, and do not rely on fixes that |
88 |
'should' be in |
89 |
external libs). |
