Hello everyone, |
5 |
|
6 |
I've finally committed this. If you don't want to get into details or are |
7 |
unsure what I'm talking about, just remember to restart kde after the next |
8 |
time you emerge a kde app. This will propagate the new settings into your |
9 |
environment. |
10 |
|
11 |
- --- Details: --- |
12 |
|
13 |
Briefly, 3rd party KDE apps (anything outside the kde-base category) now |
14 |
install into /usr. This change is trasparent and painless, except that you'll |
15 |
have to restart KDE to get the new environment settings that will allow kde |
16 |
apps installed in /usr to run. These settings are from the kde-base/kde-env |
17 |
package, which every kde app now depends on. |
18 |
|
19 |
Apps installing into /usr also get a SLOT value of 0, instead of the old |
20 |
default of 3 (for kde3 apps). This means emerge clean won't remove the old |
21 |
versions installed in /usr/kde/3; you have to do it explicitly. Sorry about |
22 |
the inconvinience, but we believe it's better than the alternative. |
23 |
|
24 |
Enjoy! |
25 |
|
26 |
BTW, KDE 3.0.3 and 3.1_beta1 will both be released sometime during the next |
27 |
week. kde-cvs users: I'm releasing a new tarball which has a lot of |
28 |
accumulated fixes, but which had to wait for this eclass update. |
