13 I sincerely doubt eudev will be well maintained by anyone, and will
14 probably be poorly maintained in Gentoo. It's a maintenance burden we
15 don't need any longer now that sys-fs/udev can be installed on all of
16 the platforms we support. I would guess that the majority of active
17 developers in the base-system project want to see it gone.

19 Also, I am planning to replace the poorly maintained "hwids" package
20 with the "hwdata" package maintained by a Red Hat employee. Part of
21 this plan involved installing the hwdb data that is shipped with
22 udev/systemd. This plan would be blocked if eudev remained in Gentoo.
