I was cleaning out my /etc directory as I do every so often and I came to |

wondering why those files needed to be protected when unmerging. Any |
| 5 |
unmodified configuration files will be restored upon re-emerging a package |
| 6 |
and any modified configuration files will be left behind anyway. |

If anyone can see situation where this behaviour could be detrimental, please |
| 9 |
reply here for further discussion and add a comment to bug #43066 if a |
| 10 |
similar comment does not exist already. |
