Hi All, |
2 |
|
3 |
We now have Gentoo successfully running on the Itanium 2. Today, with |
4 |
the help of Namesys (the ReiserFS guys,) our development Itanium 2 |
5 |
system is now running ReiserFS (*much faster* than the Debian/ext3 it |
6 |
was shipped with.) |
7 |
|
8 |
Completed: |
9 |
Stage 1/2/3 |
10 |
Integration into Stager (automated building of stages) |
11 |
It works, it runs fast. |
12 |
ReiserFS now quirk-free and working very nicely (yay!) |
13 |
|
14 |
To-do: |
15 |
Whip up an elilo ebuild (boot loader) |
16 |
Create a bootable IA64 install CD |
17 |
Get xfree, DRI and IA64 NVIDIA drivers tested |
18 |
Unmask packages as they are compiled and tested (compiling has |
19 |
been easy, not expecting much work here.) |
20 |
Do some more kernel testing. |
21 |
|
22 |
Soon: |
23 |
Now that ReiserFS is working and everything is running well, I |
24 |
can start allowing developer access to the box. Note that the |
25 |
focus of work will remain initially on the "To-do" items listed above. |
26 |
We need to get the fundamentals working first. |
27 |
|
28 |
Sincerely, |
29 |
|
30 |
Daniel |
