Hi All,

We now have Gentoo successfully running on the Itanium 2. Today, with
the help of Namesys (the ReiserFS guys,) our development Itanium 2
system is now running ReiserFS (*much faster* than the Debian/ext3 it
was shipped with.)

Completed:
Stage 1/2/3
Integration into Stager (automated building of stages)
It works, it runs fast.
ReiserFS now quirk-free and working very nicely (yay!)

To-do:
Whip up an elilo ebuild (boot loader)
Create a bootable IA64 install CD
Get xfree, DRI and IA64 NVIDIA drivers tested
Unmask packages as they are compiled and tested (compiling has
been easy, not expecting much work here.)
Do some more kernel testing.

Soon:
Now that ReiserFS is working and everything is running well, I
can start allowing developer access to the box. Note that the
focus of work will remain initially on the "To-do" items listed above.
We need to get the fundamentals working first.

Sincerely,

Daniel
