Hi, |
2 |
It has been quite some time sinse I've found time to be on an Internet |
3 |
connection to post, so: |
4 |
I'm just posting to find out how discussions on adding |
5 |
app-accessibility/speakup, etc, to Gentoo release media is going, and |
6 |
to find out if the Gentoo release team has plans for including this |
7 |
for blind users such as myself who do not have a hardware synth, nor a |
8 |
way to see the screen, so that we might successfully install Gentoo? |
9 |
I will point out that even thorugh we can read the handbook, and all |
10 |
that, it's not easy doing so in Linux. |
11 |
Linux accessibility is still under constant development compared for |
12 |
instance, to the world of Microsoft Windows operating systems. The |
13 |
screen-reading access technologies have simply been under far more |
14 |
development. |
15 |
I'd like to see Gentoo be added to the list of accessible software. |
16 |
Only one LiveCD, from: |
17 |
www.grml.org |
18 |
has become accessible for blind folks. |
19 |
The truth is, I love Gentoo more than any other CD. |
20 |
Asking for an SSH installation degrades my indipendence from |
21 |
installing Gentoo successfully without sighted assistance. |
22 |
If someone could update me on this, I'd value an update. |
23 |
Thank you all. |
24 |
Regards, --Keith |
