Hi,

currently, i think, portage merges all apps to /usr. whouldn't it be
possible to customize the prefix ? e.g. in large networks where /usr is
mounted through the network emerge whould need to emerge to /usr/local
to install a program locally. something like PORTAGE_PREFIX="/usr/local"
emerge foo would be nice. Perhaps PORTAGE_PREFIX="/usr" emerge kde would
get rid of /usr/kde :-) Ebuilds whould have to be changed, but this
should be possible after a new version for every ebuild is out.
