After one week of using gentoo i'm still fascinated. It is absoltely the
thing which i was looking for years. Thx a lot. Here are some more
recomendations from my side:

While assembling the iso-image for the next gentoo "Release" consider to
include some more (up to date) Emergency-Tools. In my case i was missing
reiserfstools (like resize_reiserfs) which i needed to repartioning my
harddrive before installing gentoo. In my opionion it would be a good
idea to include as much (usefull) things as possible like parted, tools
for repairing and managing any known filesystem, chkrootkit, tcpdump,
nmap, lsof, whois, traceroute.... And please, please, please: include
vi(m), i'm not able to handle this nano thing (i bet many more users
will missing it too). The idea is, to need just one cd in future: for
installing gentoo (of course) and doing any kind of emergency (including
security stuff). At this time i also have a SuSE-DVD in my pocket (right
beside gentoo) to be safe.
As i've seen u have extended make.conf by some more (commented)
optizimations for some plattforms. I guess this will give many people a
good start.
