After one week of using gentoo i'm still fascinated. It is absoltely the |
2 |
thing which i was looking for years. Thx a lot. Here are some more |
3 |
recomendations from my side: |
4 |
|
5 |
While assembling the iso-image for the next gentoo "Release" consider to |
6 |
include some more (up to date) Emergency-Tools. In my case i was missing |
7 |
reiserfstools (like resize_reiserfs) which i needed to repartioning my |
8 |
harddrive before installing gentoo. In my opionion it would be a good |
9 |
idea to include as much (usefull) things as possible like parted, tools |
10 |
for repairing and managing any known filesystem, chkrootkit, tcpdump, |
11 |
nmap, lsof, whois, traceroute.... And please, please, please: include |
12 |
vi(m), i'm not able to handle this nano thing (i bet many more users |
13 |
will missing it too). The idea is, to need just one cd in future: for |
14 |
installing gentoo (of course) and doing any kind of emergency (including |
15 |
security stuff). At this time i also have a SuSE-DVD in my pocket (right |
16 |
beside gentoo) to be safe. |
17 |
As i've seen u have extended make.conf by some more (commented) |
18 |
optizimations for some plattforms. I guess this will give many people a |
19 |
good start. |
