hi there,

some time ago I''ve found a site providing improvisations to the Xft- and now
to the freetype font antialiasing.
I noticed that the libfreetype provided by Gentoo is using several patches,
but it does not seem to me if these consist of the excellent changes made by
David Chester.

You can find the website at http://www.cs.mcgill.ca/~dchest/xfthack/
Check it out, you will enjoy it. The patch provides clear and consistent font
rendering as it should look like. There also are some screenshots to give you
a quick overview.
