1 You can always use rpm2targz to convert rpm package to useable form. I am not
2 sure of the similar app to convert dpkg's (if it even exists).
3 However be aware that you are loosing the real strength and flexibility by
4 resorting to precompiled packages (and they may fail as they might have some
5 specific requirements).
