8 Good research, you two! Could you do me a favor and also try tweaking
9 /etc/man.conf so that all references of -Tlatin1 are changed to -Tascii?
10 Maybe this will do the trick. I'm not sure what solution is better, but
11 it seems that if we can fix this problem by correcting man.conf (rather
12 than adding a special less-specific env var), then that would be the way
13 to go.
