Hi all.

The Java herd has created a public mailing list for all things relating
to Java and Gentoo, in order to become more visible and attentive to our
user's needs.

Please sign up by sending a mail (no subject, no body) to
gentoo-java-subscribe@g.o.

The immediate topics for discussion are:
1) How should we handle packaging of libraries to account for
version differences and cross-distribution compatibility?
2) How is the new java-config holding up, viewpoints?
3) Should we focus on supporting the free&open JDKs as well, such
as kaffe and gcj, for all our packages?
4) The binary eclipse ebuilds are being phased out in favour of from-source
ebuilds. Some of the binary packages may not get from-source replacements,
as they cannot be built appropriately by Portage (only from inside Eclipse),
suggestions?

If you have (other) viewpoints, please sign up and state your opinions.

Kind regards,
