The Southern California Linux Expo is this weekend in Los Angeles. Here |
2 |
are some last minute details: |
3 |
|
4 |
The Expo has added one additional speaker. Doug Hass, Director of |
5 |
Business Development for ImageStream, will speak on “Advanced Quality of |
6 |
Service and Firewalls using Linux” |
7 |
|
8 |
His presentation covers the key concepts of quality of service and |
9 |
access list filtering using Open Source tools. The presentation |
10 |
includes an explanation of filtering using Linux's iptables tool and |
11 |
standard queuing methods as defined in the Differentiated Services RFC |
12 |
as well as applications of these methods through generic case studies. |
13 |
|
14 |
The Expo has added another BOF, “Schools And Open Source Software”. |
15 |
There are a few BOF (Birds Of a Feather) session slots still available |
16 |
at SCALE on Sunday. If your group needs a meeting room for a BOF, |
17 |
contact gareth@××××××××××××××.com to reserve one. The current BOFs can |
18 |
be viewed at http://socallinuxexpo.com/scale5x/events/bof.php |
19 |
|
20 |
If you live nearby, and have surplus electronic equipment you'd like to |
21 |
discard, you can bring it to SCALE and dispose of it legally. Access to |
22 |
the drop off point is a bit circuitous; we've created a map showing the |
23 |
approach and departure from the drop off area. If you are bringing |
24 |
equipment to dispose of, make sure you consult the map prior to leaving |
25 |
for the Westin. The map can be found at |
26 |
http://socallinuxexpo.com/scale5x/events/ewaste.php |
27 |
|
28 |
If you don't register ahead of time and have a question about the Expo |
29 |
during the Expo weekend, the SCALE phone number will be manned by |
30 |
Registration personnel during show hours. You can call 877-831-2569 and |
31 |
be routed through the SCALE Asterisk PBX directly to someone at |
32 |
Registration. |
33 |
|
34 |
The Vendor showcases currently booked are IBM with “Business Innovation |
35 |
Through Linux”, and Verio with “Linux Virtualization in Action”. |
36 |
|
37 |
