It has been a while now that I use gentoo from 1.0 rc6 to 1.2, it always felt |
6 |
like if a problem occurred, I could figure out with or without help how to |
7 |
get the computer back on its feet and working again. So I tempted the danger |
8 |
and went with the update of the v1.4 using the update documentation and my |
9 |
little knowledge and guess what, it worked! |
10 |
|
11 |
Thanks to all of you who put time and effort into gentoo. It is really |
12 |
showing up and I for sure, do appreciate it. |
13 |
|
14 |
Something curious happenned on my system thought, the libGLU/libXforms and 2 |
15 |
others were used by some software (qt/kdelibs) but were still compiled with |
16 |
gcc 2.95.x even thought I had re-compiled xfree. Now I'm unsure if those |
17 |
libs were actually part of xfree but I thought so and when I did the unmerge |
18 |
of xfree it didn't remove them. |
19 |
|
20 |
I'd like to get more info on that so that I understand what happenned for my |
21 |
own knowledge. |
22 |
|
23 |
Also, the update-step4.sh complained about some package that were using old |
24 |
ebuild which were no more on the system, but those ebuild were still present |
25 |
inside /var/db/pkg, therefore an enhancement to that script would be that it |
26 |
also parse those folders in other to find the ebuild it is looking for |
27 |
instead of complaining. |
