what i did is the following - i used an existing linux system, booted the gentoo cd and mounted one of the existing partitions to /usr/portage/distfiles and did all the emerge --fetchonly <your package here> i could think of. |

then i burned the /usr/portage/distfiles directory on cd and took home were i build my gentoo system |
