1 | Just wanted to commend everyone who's responsible for Gentoo Linux for doing an absolutely bang up job! After recently converting from Linux to FreeBSD I'm back to Linux! My machine just absolutely FLIES! Your portage system is right on par with FreeBSD's and after I installed my vital apps, I did a "df -h" and was astonished as to how little bloat there actually was. This is the way Linux should be. Compiled for MY machine, with MY software, and MY services running and utilizing a cutting edge kernel but keeping security and stability in mind. Wonderfull! I hope you guys don't go anywhere any time soon except up. |

7 | On a side note. I have a Matrox UATA 100 PCI card on my system to interface with my hard drive and as such my hard drive device is /dev/hdi. I have to exit the chroot shell BEFORE installing grub since the chroot shell doesn't see the device /dev/hdi. Just something you might run into in the future that I'd thought I'd share... |
