I also don't understand masking packages because the firmware is in |

packages are slotted, and it's also easier to install a package than |

list and update a changing set of firmware files in |

/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel/linux-firmware (referring to |

ar9271, rt2860, rt2870, i2400m). |

On the other hand, firmware is often very stable, so why mask a |

package just because it has no maintainer? Who wins by having atmel, |

or zd1201/zd1211 masked? There are no open bugs, so what's the point? |
