Packages that are broken, unstable, or untested are masked. This means they |

are identified in the file /usr/portage/profile/package.mask. They are |

usually masked for a good reason, which is documented in that file. |

If you choose to have a go, just comment out the appropriate line in that |

file, but you're on your own. FWIW I've been played with gcc-3.0 (which was |

masked) for a while with mixed results. |
