11 Sounds good to me. I do this with a couple of game ebuilds where
12 the upstream situation is similar. I usually put a comment in the
13 ebuild with a commented out copy of SRC_URI that points to the "old"
14 source location.

16 Two things: first, it becomes even more important to upload to dev.g.o
17 before committing the ebuild to portage since people will then be depending
18 on the Gentoo mirrors for the source. Second, be sure to email the
19 upstream folks about the situation and ask them if they wouldn't mind
20 versioning their releases. I've found that sometimes it just hasn't
21 occurred to them and once they realize why it's helpful they switch to
22 a versioning scheme.
