I'd like to get opinions on what people think about creating a sys-boot |
2 |
category for the various bootloaders. A majority (if not all of them) |
3 |
can be found in sys-apps currently. |
4 |
|
5 |
At the moment, I can identify 10 different packages for bootloaders for |
6 |
the various architectures: |
7 |
|
8 |
sys-apps/aboot (Alpha w/ SRM) |
9 |
sys-apps/dvhtool (Mips) |
10 |
sys-apps/grub (x86) |
11 |
sys-apps/grub-static (x86) |
12 |
sys-apps/lilo (x86) |
13 |
sys-apps/milo (Alpha w/o SRM) |
14 |
sys-apps/palo (Hppa/Parisc) |
15 |
sys-apps/silo (Sparc) |
16 |
sys-apps/syslinux (CD-ROM) |
17 |
sys-apps/yaboot (PPC) |
18 |
|
19 |
There are some other bootloaders not in portage yet that could join this |
20 |
group. A couple I know off the top of my head are arcboot (Mips), nuni |
21 |
(x86), and u-boot (universal). |
22 |
|
23 |
Anyone else knows of some bootloaders not in portage that'd fit into a |
24 |
category like this, chime in as well. |
