1 one thing I forgot to add in favor of a separate stable branch, This
2 would allow 1 year out of date or older machines, to be able to be
3 upgraded to the latest versions using emerge -up world.

5 Currently you cannot easily do this. Too many things have changed both
6 with portage, and in the profiles. I've tried it 3 times with zero
7 success, twice on ppc, and once on x86.

9 It was a very frustrating experience, to say the least.
