Hi |
5 |
|
6 |
We've put together an automatic installer using PXE, some bash scripts |
7 |
and prebuilt binaries that are delivered via "emerge -G". So far it |
8 |
works very well. There's documentation and the install scripts |
9 |
available at http://www.scms.waikato.ac.nz/~baz. Theres also a bunch of |
10 |
client maintenance scripts we use also but we haven't documented or |
11 |
published those yet (due to lack of time 8). |

| I'm working for a big city and we're currently migrating all desktops to |
20 |
| SuSE linux. To install all clients automatically over the network we're |
21 |
| using PXE, AutoYAST, and an install.xml file. I think such a system is |
22 |
also |
23 |
| a good idea for gentoo. |
24 |
| Because of this fact i wanted to ask what you are thinking about such a |
25 |
| system. In my opinion such a feature will save much money and some |
26 |
companies |
27 |
| can migrate more easily to distributions like gentoo. it also saves a |
28 |
lot of |
29 |
| money and the annoying reinstallation tasks for the administrators :) |

| Hope for an answer and a few comments. |
