I am using gentoo-ix86-1.1a.iso to install, strictly following your |
2 |
instructions of installation. |
3 |
|
4 |
First error I recieve is after following code listing 17. |
5 |
------------------ |
6 |
# chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash |
7 |
# env-update |
8 |
>>> Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge sync' will propably |
9 |
fix this. |
10 |
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache... |
11 |
# source /etc/profile |
12 |
|
13 |
Oh, no new prompt... An 'emerge sync' and 'emerge rsync' will not work as I |
14 |
am behind a firewall / proxy!!! |
15 |
|
16 |
Question Number One: |
17 |
Why is make.profile not available at this point of installation, as I |
18 |
followed the instructions and used the up-todate iso image? What went wrong? |
19 |
|
20 |
Question Number Two: |
21 |
You should work on a solution for people who have to use 'emerge (r)sync' |
22 |
inside an firewall/proxy environment, and actually write it down and add it |
23 |
to the installation instructions. Newsgroups are full with questions about |
24 |
this problem. |
25 |
|
26 |
Question Numer Three: |
27 |
Why must I type in all those commandos? I think half of the commands are |
28 |
equal for the whole manhood. Why not use a script? I could first setup my |
29 |
network, make my partitions, initialize them, mount them, then edit one |
30 |
installation script and go to the cinama. Next mornig, there could be a grub |
31 |
menu asking me for my choice on my allready rebooted machine. |
32 |
