12 Anyway, icons are needed for the new GTK+ 2.4 file chooser at the very
13 least. Look in gtk/gtkfilesystemunix.c. There are gnome icon names in
14 there. Yes, GTK+ works without those icons, but it'll just look ugly
15 and un-usable.

17 If you want a bare-minimum system, then you can inject packages all you
18 like, thats the beauty of Gentoo. But we're here to provide some sane
19 defaults, and providing icons with a GUI toolkit is a sane default
