Hi!

First of all, thanks for doing such a good job! I'm using RH for 2 years but
was never satisfied with at one side rpms and at the other side self
compilted apps.

I've installed Gentoo yesterday evening (and all this night). I think you
can make 2 or 3 corrections to the installation instructions. Here's my
comments:

1. I had problems when running the fresh kernel after compilation because I
had never found File systems/Device File System. In fact the label is
something like '/dev fs ...'. After the first bad try, I've deducted that
this is the thing you mention as Device File System. After a second
compilation and boot, crash again. In fact, you say that I don't need to
enable the '/dev/pts file system support'. I have disabled it and everything
goes ok now. Maybe it's better to say: you must disable '/dev/pts...'.

2. When creating the boot floppy, maybe it is better to replace:

mkdir /mnt/floppy/boot

with

mkdir -p /mnt/floppy/boot/grub

Because the next cp will copy stage1 under boot and name as 'grub'. The
second cp will copy stage2 under boot, rename it as 'grub' and overwrite the
stage1. Grub will not install properly.

That's all! Sorry for the bad english, this is not my mother tongue. This
eve I will install X and KDE ;-)

Thanks again for such a great distribution!

Best Regards,

Fabian
