[gentoo-dev] please help

i am trying to install gentoo linux and i am having problems. i am new to linux but i do have some basic understanding of it. the reson why i would like gentoo is the "out of the box" ones do not offer support for the intel 850 chipset. what i was wondering is do you know where i can find a more "newbie" friendly install guide.
i am installing this on a scsi hard drive with a ide cdrom and when i reboot i get a kernel panic error   thank you for all your help joe email:sweetangelhsd@×××××××××.net
