Subject: [gentoo-dev] suggestion for /etc/devfsd.conf

Sometimes, a package needs to add configuration lines for devfsd. For
example when adding modem support. Currently, on Gentoo, this must be
done by editing /etc/devfsd.d, which is inconvenient and brittle.

If instead /etc/devfsd.conf contained a line:

INCLUDE /etc/devfs.d

then packages could simply add configuration files to directory
/etc/devfs.d in just the same way that this is done, say, for
/etc/modules.d

is this a bad idea? if not, should it be added to gentoo?

Cheers,
