[gentoo-dev] create binary package for an installed package

hi,

i know i can build binary packages with --buildpkg... but i have already
emerged something and now i'd like to create a binary package for it. do
i have to recompile it again?

reason:
i had xfree4.2.99.3...... now i upgraded to xfree4.2.99.4.. and
something changed... and i want to be sure that it changed because of
the xfree upgrade.

so i have to emerge xfree4.2.99.3, check it, and then emerge
xfree4.2.99.4 again.. that's why it would be nice if i could save my
already-compiled xfree4.2.99.4 into a binary package , so i don't have
to recompile it again.

is there a way to do that?
