Once you have your Gentoo Linux system set up you should |

run "emerge rsync" to populate your /usr/portage tree. |

Then, to emerge binary packages from the CD you simply |

need to mount the CD and set an environment variable: |

export PKGDIR=/mnt/cdrom/gentoo/packages |

and use |

emerge --usepkg /mnt/cdrom/gentoo/packages/All/foo-x.y.z.tbz2 |

to build the desired package. |
