Hello guys, |
2 |
|
3 |
A couple of weeks now, we've been discussing the integration of |
4 |
Xbox-Linux's patches to Portage. See: |
5 |
|
6 |
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45100 |
7 |
|
8 |
I'd like to comment on the points that were made during that discussion: |
9 |
|
10 |
- Gentoo doesn't want to be involved in legal issues |
11 |
- A separate distribution would suffice |
12 |
|
13 |
The first point wouldn't be a problem for Gentoo. All the work that is |
14 |
done on Xbox-Linux is legal. It isn't against the DMCA. For more |
15 |
information about this issue, visit: |

|
20 |
That's right, Xbox-Linux isn't against the law. |
21 |
|
22 |
About the second point; creating a separate distribution for the Xbox. |
23 |
It would bring us to the same point we are currently at: Gentoox. |
24 |
|
25 |
Gentoox is a distribution made by a former Gentoo developer called |
26 |
Shallax (http://gentoox.shallax.com). Looking at the current status of |
27 |
the project, it has a couple of cons: |
28 |
|
29 |
- The current project leader Shallax is a little inactive the last |
30 |
couple of months because of his education (not that I blame him) |
31 |
- It doesn't really make the Xbox platform as supportive as we all would |
32 |
like it to be, like support for Hardened Gentoo for example. |
33 |
|
34 |
Could you please reconsider your thoughts on Xbox-Linux support? |
35 |
Searching for interested developers wouldn't take too much effort. |
36 |
|
37 |
Yours, |
38 |
|
