Hello guys,

A couple of weeks now, we've been discussing the integration of
Xbox-Linux's patches to Portage. See:

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45100

I'd like to comment on the points that were made during that discussion:

- Gentoo doesn't want to be involved in legal issues
- A separate distribution would suffice

The first point wouldn't be a problem for Gentoo. All the work that is
done on Xbox-Linux is legal. It isn't against the DMCA. For more
information about this issue, visit:

http://www.xbox-linux.org/docs/faq.html#44
http://www.xbox-linux.org/docs/legal.html

That's right, Xbox-Linux isn't against the law.

About the second point; creating a separate distribution for the Xbox.
It would bring us to the same point we are currently at: Gentoox.

Gentoox is a distribution made by a former Gentoo developer called
Shallax (http://gentoox.shallax.com). Looking at the current status of
the project, it has a couple of cons:

- The current project leader Shallax is a little inactive the last
couple of months because of his education (not that I blame him)
- It doesn't really make the Xbox platform as supportive as we all would
like it to be, like support for Hardened Gentoo for example.

Could you please reconsider your thoughts on Xbox-Linux support?
Searching for interested developers wouldn't take too much effort.

Yours,
